In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) was placed top among universities by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023 from Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. With a number between 601 and 800, it is currently the fourth-highest-ranked university in Pakistan in International ranking according to the most recent list.
In the ranking of colleges and universities, which includes 1,799 universities from 104 nations, 29 universities in Pakistan were included.

AWKUM scored remarkably well in the categories of research, citations, and global outlook; in the citation category, it rose 80 positions from the previous year, from 268 to 180.
The faculty’s efforts, who put in endless hours and generated top-notch research, are highlighted by this.
In addition to the 29 universities that were included in the ranking, the THE also awarded 24 other Pakistani institutions with the designation of “Reporter,” meaning that they provided the information required for evaluation but did not match THE’s criteria for inclusion on the 2023 list.
