Google Pixel 6, can it compete with iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy S22?

Google is working on a few smartphones that will be fully unveiled later this year. The company has officially teased the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro and offers some details on what we can expect. Can pixel 6 give a tough competition to Apple iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy S22? Here are some of the specs and the expected price in Pakistan for the upcoming smartphones.

Release date and price
October 19, 2021 unveiling?
From £ 599 / $ 699 / Rs.120000 price in Pakistan

Google has confirmed that the Google Pixel 6 “will hit the market in the fall,” although that’s all official information we have for now. Previous Google release patterns would suggest October 2021, and the October 19th date was suggested for a Made by Google event with a general sale date of October 28th.

It’s not clear right now whether the Pixel 6 will see a price spike back into flagship territory or whether Google will stick with the slightly lower prices. If it stays at the same standard as the Pixel 5 , prices could start at around £ 599 / $ 699 /PKR 120000.

For reference, we’d expect the Pixel 6 Pro to be a flagship, so it’s likely to be more expensive.
Google itself has revealed official images of the upcoming Pixel 6 from behind, and the design is consistent with previous leaked renders. There’s a dramatic redesign from previous Pixels, with a large camera body on the back that spreads across the width of the phone. According to Google, this is because the camera has been redesigned and no longer fits into the square camera body we saw on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5.

The renders also suggest an under-display fingerprint sensor – something that is definitely plausible given that under-display fingerprint scanners have been around for some time and are present on many of the Pixel’s competitors . The physical fingerprint sensor on the back that was found on previous Pixels is also absent from Google’s official Pixel 6 images, so this move to an under-display option is likely.

Google has said the Pixel 6 will have a matte finish and the official images that have been released show it in orange / red, light blue / green and black / gray color options.

120 Hz refresh rate
The Pixel 5 has a 6-inch display, but rumor has it that the Pixel 6 will be slightly larger at 6.4-inches. It’s supposed to be a flat display and not be bent like the Pixel 6 Pro.

Rumors also say that it will have a Full HD + resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. HDR support is also expected.

Hardware and specifications:
Google tensor chip
8 GB RAM, 128/256 GB storage
UWB technology
5G connectivity
Google has confirmed that it is working on its own system-on-chip called Tensor . According to the company, it has been working on the chip for four years and the focus will be on security with a new security core and Titan M2. Google Pixel 6 will have “the most layers of security in any phone”.

Earlier rumors said the chip could offer similar performance to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series. It is also claimed that it will have raw power equivalent to that between the Snapdragon 865 and 888, and it is claimed that it includes a neural processing unit and an image signal processor.

In terms of other specs, there should be 8GB of RAM and a choice of 128GB or 256GB of storage for the Pixel 6.

Google confirmed that its upcoming Digital Car Key feature would use ultra-broadband technology currently not offered in any Pixel device – an indication that a future version will include it.

The battery capacity is rumored to be 4614 mAh and there could possibly be support for 25 W wireless charging.

4K video recording from the front
Pixel 6: dual rear (50 MP + 12 MP)
8MP front
Google Pixel phones have been praised for their excellent cameras, so we expect the Pixel 6 to continue down this path. Or at least we hope so.

Google’s official images of the Pixel 6 confirm a dual rear camera, while the Pixel 6 Pro will have a triple rear camera. It has been said there could be a 50-megapixel main camera – which could be the ISOCELL GN1 sensor unveiled by Samsung in 2020 – and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera on the Pixel 6, though it hasn’t yet is confirmed. Officially, we only know that there is an improved camera system.

Other rumors related to cameras are that the proposed 8MP front camera could support 4K video recording and overall video recording will be improved compared to the Pixel 5. There is also talk of a larger Samsung sensor on board and a gimbal camera mode.
