Low-cost Airline, Fly Jinnah (FJ) set to launch it’s operations in Pakistan

Lakson Group and Sharjah-based carrier Air Arabia announce to jointly set up Fly Jinnah, a new airline in Pakistan to serve domestic and international routes from Pakistan.

The new carrier which will operate as a joint venture between the pair would help Pakistan’s travel and tourism sector and contribute to the country’s economic growth and job creation.

Flight operations will first be limited to domestic travel, and will subsequently be expanded to accommodate international flights.

Iqbal Ali Lakhani, Chairman of Lakson Group, said: “We are excited to partner with Air Arabia in launching Pakistan’s new low-cost carrier. It will serve Pakistan’s travel and tourism sector and will play a constructive role in contributing to the nation’s economic growth.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday wished success for the new joint venture between Pakistani conglomerate and the Middle Eastern carrier. Khan took to Twitter and tweeted about the development.

“I welcome @airarabiagroup to Pakistan & wish them success in their partnership with local investors to establish a new Pakistani airline, FLY JINNAH,” he tweeted. “My govt is committed to attracting investment in Pakistan’s burgeoning travel & tourism sector which offers immense opportunities.”

The Lakson Group is a major business conglomerate in Pakistan with interests across the insurance, food, media industries along with others. It was established in 1954, and owns/ operates over 15 companies in Pakistan.

Air Arabia operates from Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, and has similar joint ventures in Abu Dhabi, Egypt, Morocco and Armenia. Its shares are listed on the Dubai Financial Market.
