Senator Faisal Javed Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Sunday that Pakistan’s Information Technology (IT) exports have reached their highest level in six months.
According to Faisal Javed Khan’s tweet “Pakistan hits its highest ever IT Exports in 6 months. Our IT Exports during FY 21-22 surged to $1.302 billion at the growth rate of 36% v/s $959 million during the same period of 2020-21. Hopefully we’ll be able to cross $3.5 billion mark during this financial year insha’ALLAH”
He further said “PM Imran Khan’s focus is on increasing exports to stimulate economic growth. We will insha’ALLAH double our IT industry in 2 years. TechZones are being set-up to create employment, economic transformation & attract international investors. We are now the third-largest gig economy globally”.
According to Faisal Javed Khan, the Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, it is Prime Minister Imran Khan’s focus to expand exports to to stimulate economic growth. “Inshaallah, we will double our IT industry in two years,” he continued.
To enhance IT growth Pakistan is planning to establish new Software Technology Parks and make it 40 by the end of 2022. Also benefits are given to Freelancers and other software related companies.
He stated that TechZones are being established to create jobs, alter the economy, and attract international investment. “We’re now the world’s third-largest gig economy,” he continued.
In recent developments the Ministry of Information Technology have stated that they are proposing to give Freelancers tax exemptions. New Technology zones and software technology parks in the country will help increase these exports.
