Ramiz Raja estimates record breaking profit of two billion rupees from Australia tour

Australia visited Pakistan after 24 year and played three Tests, three ODIs and a one-off T20I during Pakistan tour. Paksitan Lost the Test series by 1-0 but managed to win the ODI Series by 2-1 after successful knocks by Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam and Shaheen’s aggressive spells.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) claims to have made a two-billion-rupee profit from the recently concluded Australia tour of Pakistan. Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the PCB, expressed his delight and emphasized that this is a positive sign for the grassroots. It will promote cricket in the country and will also motivate other teams to visit Pakistan.

Australia’s first tour to Pakistan in 24 years included three Tests and an equal number of ODIs, as well as a one-off T20I. The series began on March 4 with the first Test and concluded on April 5 with a single T20I. During the tour, the visitors had the upper hand, winning both the Test and T20I series. The home team, on the other hand, defeated Australia in the ODI series by a score of 2-1.

The series helped Imam-ul-Haq get back his form and have really helped him to improve his ODI rankings. After the series, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi improved their ICC ODI rankings.

In a video released by the PCB, the board’s chief stated that the profit from Australia’s tour of Pakistan was enormous and that the board will now focus on coaching, training, and education of young people.

Pakistan’s performance in the T20 World Cup motivated other teams to visit Pakistan. The Match against India was the turning moment where Pakistan won a 1 sided match without losing any wicket in chasing 152 Runs. After that win Pakistan was considered the favourite to win the World Cup but Australia played an amazing match to win a match against Pakistan in the semi-final.

“Defeating India in the T20 World Cup was a turning point for us and it took our cricket to new heights. It’s the effect you saw in the PSL as well where people owned this team, which also helped our commercial angle. So, from the commercial aspect, I think we have broken all the records. I think we will generate profit around two billion rupees from this tour, which is humongous,” said Raja.
