Pakistan Suzuki Motors Compnay (PSMC) claims that 16,027 cars were sold in June 2022, which is the largest number in company history. It is important to note that in December 2021, 15,500 units were sold, which was the previous record.
In light of the current situation, this is a major success for the business. Although the sales split is not yet public, we will find out when the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report is released the following week.
Currently model-wise break-up of the automakers performance is not available but local reports suggest that Swift is the most preferred model from the company and it is establishing itself a favourite among potential car buyers in the country overall as the company has discontinued Cultus.
With models like the Alto, Swift, Jimny and Wagon R, Pak Suzuki dominates the compact car market in Pakistan and it appears that buyers are favoring tiny automobiles as a result of rising gas prices and general inflation.
Despite the fact that the breakdown of sales is uncertain, reports suggest that Suzuki Alto and the new Swift has had a substantial impact on the overall increase in sales of cars.
PSMC is a formidable rival in Pakistan’s small-car market as a result of the wide range of city cars it offers. With a market share of more than 60%, the company controls the vehicle sector.
Additionally, it has been stated that the business wants to increase Alto sales in addition to Swift. According to the PAMA report, 9,814 Alto units were sold in March 2022, 5,009 in April, and 5,461 in May 2022, before marginally increasing to 5,814 units. This demonstrated that since March, the sales of this car have decreased by about 50%.
Therefore, we believe Pak Suzuki intends to concentrate on the Alto and Swift to maintain its dominance in these markets.
